1 dessertspoon melted butter, for greasing tin

150g dark chocolate, chopped

125g butter

150g caster sugar

3 eggs, lightly beaten

55g plain flour or ground almonds

Chocolate glaze:

110g dark chocolate, chopped

2tbsp milk

45g butter

  1. Preheat oven to 160oc/325of/gas mark 3
  2. Butter sides of 8-inch cake tin, and line bottom with parchment paper
  3. Melt chocolate, butter and sugar
  4. Stir until smooth and then fold in beaten eggs and then the flour (sieved)
  5. Pour into cake tin and bake for 40-50 minutes – it won’t rise much
  6. Cool in tin
  7. Melt chocolate glaze ingredients and stir until smooth
  8. Allow to cool a little (10 minutes)
  9. Place cake on plate and pour glaze over
