1. Regular schedule – same time going to bed and getting up
2. Bedroom is dark, quiet, cool, comfortable and free from distractions (like phones, TVs..)
3. Avoid alcohol, heavy meals, and caffeine close to bedtime
4. Regular exercise (but not too close to bedtime)
5. Establish a routine e.g. have a bath, read a book, listen to music, have a herbal tea or hot milk
6. Journal at bedtime – get your thoughts down on paper to slow down a busy mind
