These are great fun and very easy to make – it is wonderful to see them puffing up in the oven


  • 2tsp yeast
  • 300ml warm water
  • 500g strong white flour
  • 2tsp salt
  • 1tbsp olive oil


  • Mix the yeast and warm water
  • Add the flour, salt and oil to the yeast mix.
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes
  • Lightly flour the worktop and knead 5-10 minutes
  • Place in oiled bowl, cover and leave to double in size
  • Place baking tray in oven, heated to max
  • Divide dough into 8 pieces, flatten
  • Flour the baking tray and cook 4-5 minutes (I usually turn them over for the last minute)
